Our Chalice Symbol

In the days preceding World War II the Unitarian Universalist Service committee set up rescue operations for victims of the Nazi Threat in Europe.   Rescuers identified themselves with the symbol of the flaming chalice.  In our services today the chalice and the flame have come to represent both service and the light of truth.

The chalice we use in our services was designed for BUC by John Glick of The Plum Tree Pottery in Farmington Hills, Michigan.  For more information about him and his work visit www.johnglick.com
