First 50 Years 1949-1999 A History of Birmingham Unitarian Church Published by Archives Committee |
| "Forward through the ages," reads the old Unitarian
hymn, "in unbroken line...." The Birmingham Unitarian Church stands in a
long line of liberal congregations, both Unitarian and Universalist, streatching back
hundreds of years. In the long liberal religious tradition, fifty years may not
seem especially noteworthy, nor does a group of religious liberals on the suburban fringe
of an industrial Midwestern city appear to be the focal point to view cosmic truth.
Yet in the life of a community, fifty years is ample time to share a spiritual journey of
self-discovery. And anywhere is a spiritual place when consecrated by generations of
seekers sharing the human experience. To order send a check payable to BUC for $20 ($15 for book and $5 for shipping and handling) to: First 50 Years |
