Rental Policies

  • While reservations are placed on the church calendar immediately upon request, they cannot be confirmed until a signed contract, and deposit when requested, is received by the church administrator.  Sanctuary rentals require 50% of rent at time of contract.

  • Full rental payment is required ten days before the event.

  • A damage deposit is required for parties, to be forfeited in part or in total should the facilities be damaged or unexpected clean-up result.

  • Under special circumstances the church may choose to underwrite a non-profit activity consistent with Unitarian Universalist values by reducing or waiving rental fees.  Any potential renter wishing such rate reduction or waiver must request in writing at least 45 days before the date needed.  Requests are made through the church administrator and require approval by the minister.

  • Non-UU-affiliated programs which, in the judgment of the minister, may be perceived to have religious content, may not rent BUC facilities without permission of the minister.

  • Program descriptions and printed publicity for the event must be submitted through church administrator and approved by the minister before promulgation.  Failure to comply may result in revocation of the rental contract. All program publicity must include the statement, as worded, that “This program is not sponsored by and may not reflect the views of the Birmingham Unitarian Church.”
